About Self Care Decisions (SCD)

The Self Care Decisions team has worked together for more than 20 years – creating effective software platforms to deliver useful decision-support content and patient education to consumers.

In 2010, Self Care Decisions launched our first mobile app – SymptomMD. It was the first consumer symptom-checking application on the app marketplace. A pediatric version, Pediatric SymptomMD, followed on its heels. Within months, we received requests from several health systems and the American Academy of Pediatrics to create similar white-labeled apps, branded with their organizations’ logo, color palette and fulfillment options. As these apps grew in popularity, the word spread. In the following years, we developed many more apps and added greater functionality with each build.

We saw the opportunity to expand beyond our symptom-checking base, but didn’t want to become a development-shop for hire. It’s only with focus that a company builds expertise and sustainability. To keep up with the demand for website and mobile apps, we created two platforms:

• AppFactory for mobile-first, website applications. The platform supports each step of applying your brand and then mapping each clinical outcome to your facilities and services. Most web applications can be implemented in 30 to 60 minutes. The display is built for the smallest screens first, so it shows beautifully on mobile devices, tablets and desktops.
• CareCatalyst platform for native mobile apps. This platform manages all aspects of mobile app design, from the main menu to location and service contact screens.

So, we’re busy at work, supporting our existing clients and delivering solutions which guide patients and consumers to the right care at the right time. We’ll partner with you to map the “right care” to your organization’s assets: physicians, portals, scheduling options, telemedicine service and facilities (walk-in clinics, urgent care centers, ERs and labor and delivery).
